April Favorites (Part II)

April showers bring May….wait it’s already MAY?! This year is going by so fast I can’t believe we are halfway through Spring! This whole wedding planning thing is really becoming more consuming at this point. I wasn’t feeling any pressure up until right around when I realized we only have 100 days to plan one of the most important days of our lives. 92 days from now we will be happily married and not remember the few sleepless nights worrying about invitations and photography and coordinating where our friends and family will stay (not that I’m counting). Other than the teeny tiny bit of stress April brought me, I found a few-found loves come into my life.

Cottage Bed

First, and most importantly, we upgraded our sleeping situation!!! This bed (similar) has been a life changer. Our bedroom is not quite photo-ready for me to share any photos of the actual bed yet but I’m working on it.

The Sleep Rev.

This book really gets you thinking about your sleep habits and how important sleep really is. Spoiler alert: YOU NEED IT! Arianna Huffington smacks you in the face with jaw dropping sleep deprivation statistics and then teaches you techniques to really make your bed the sleep sanctuary it should be.

doTERRA-Serenity Essential Oil

Serenity: the state of being calm, peaceful and untroubled. My diffuser has been getting used quite a bit this last month. I’ve always enjoyed essential oils and this doTERRA oil for relaxation actually made Robert love aromatherapy.

Thrifted Traditional Rug

I found this gorgeous rug at a local used furniture store in Reno. Like the bed, not ready for its full photo-op, it found its way to our bedroom. She’s a blue and peach and oh-so-pretty.

Behr-white paint

Last, but definitely not least, I am loving Behr plain “White” paint. It’s got a tiny bit of a blue-ish tint, which is the perfect balance to the rich, reddish hardwood floors in our house. I painted one of the bedrooms in our house this color and I’m really enjoying the blank slate work from.

Please let us know what you are loving from April. Head over to our Instagram to see things we love everyday. Happy Friday!

April Favorites! (Part One)

Hey there! Corinne here, Happy Monday! April has come and gone and I can’t even believe it!  Where did it go! AGH!!! This is probably the post I have been most looking forward too, purely because there are two of us here so we don’t have just one set of favorites we have two! Also Josette and i are totally different in our personality, our style, our daily life, so I’m really excited to see what she chooses as her favorites because i’m sure they will be different then mine! This post will work in two parts; Today I’m going to share with you all of the things that I have been loving over the past month, and then on Friday, Josette will share her favorites. Let’s get into it!

photo 1

Lets start with the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow this retails for $69 on either the Charlotte Tilbury website or the Nordstrom website. This product is an oldie but a goodie. The bronzer in this compact is the absolute perfect shad ever!!! I have only been using this product all month. such amazing product!

photo 3

This is the new Philosophy Take a Deep Breath moisturizer. Philosophy has always been my skin savior brand, I have never found a product from them that I don’t like (with the exception of the cinnamon bun bubble bath… eeeww) This product is no different! Such a refreshing light weight moisturizer good for the warmer months to come!

photo 4

Ok I picked these babies up during the sephora vib sale and now i just want all of the shades from this range!! These are the new Nails Inc NailKale collection , I have the Shades Duchess walk (Right) and York Mews (Left). So Beautiful, So Perfect!

photo 5

The colors I have been wearing on my lips all month are the sugar Tinted lip treatments in Tulip and Cherry. Honestly all of the sugar lip treatments are great but these two are just perfect from adding a bit of a sheer wash of color without overdoing it.

photo 2 (2)

Ok Guys, I have good news and bad news with this product… Good news, its amazing and probably the only vitamin c serum i have ever tried that has not broken me out at all this product is seriously fantastic!!! Bad news… It’s $80 🙁 If you are in the marked for a seriously good good good day serum jump on it though because it is amazing!

photo 1 (2)

On to non beauty products, I used to have the Kate Spade Gramercy Grand watch in gold forever and it was my favorite watch in the world!! then the battery died and the clasp wore out and i was to lazy to send it in to get fixed.. so i bought a new one!! isn’t it adorable!! this watch is soo cute and it has a bee on the hour hand and it says time flies! Adorable! In Love!!

photo 3 (2)

Last but not least a book, reading i one of the main things i do to relax. its such a great way to go to a different place and just forget all of your troubles. The book i have been really enjoying this month is The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, by Rachel Joyce. If you have not read this book you need to go out and pic it up immediately! this book is so completely charming, and just an all around joy to read. Right from the very first page you get taken up on such a silly playful journey with underlying truths about hope and love! such a true joy to read!

That’s all for my favorites, I hope you enjoyed! Check back Friday for Joesttes!

Currently Loving | Colored Couches

I’ve always been someone a little afraid of color. I tend to go more for neutrals with smaller pops of color so the fact that 2016 has all of a sudden made me in love with bold color is beyond me! But I’m just going to roll with it and see what happens…I mean what’s the worst that could happen? I’m sure Robert won’t mind if he comes home to a pink sofa one day after work 😛 I like the idea of a colored sofa to bring a fun element of personality into your living room.

Beware: these photos may make you convinced you need a pink or green or yellow sofa!!! Yes I mean need, not want. Proceed with caution.

This perfectly mid century-laid back pink number should be in an uber girly salon in like downtown San Francisco.

You could say I’ve got a case of the blues thanks to these lovely living rooms.

I’m going to get cheezy and say I’m green with envy! The natural elements mixed with rich green is spot on.

These spaces just look so rich and exciting with standout seating for guests.

Dreamy jewel tones that make me just want to pop open a bottle of bubbly and catch up with the girls.

Em henderson sofa collage

Emily Henderson perfectly styles living spaces with statement couches making it look effortless and fun.

I used to think I hated any shade of yellow..I believe this couch has since changed my mind on the color.

Wedding Inspiration

I cannot begin to explain what it feels like to get engaged to your best friend except that it’s pretty damn amazing! We’ve had a few months to soak it all in come down from space (where I think I was floating at one point) back to reality.

Here’s what it’s like in a nutshell: first you can barely process what’s happening you’re so incredibly happy! Next, people say really sweet things about you and your new fiancé that make you cry like a baby. About two seconds after that you start getting asked: “when’s the wedding, where are you having it, who will be in the wedding……?” BAM! Reality hits and you actually have to plan a wedding.

Since I’m not a big planner, that’s better left up to my other half most of the time, I have struggled a little bit. I’m just taking it one step at a time so as not to get overwhelmed and just enjoy this really exciting time in our lives.2c4ecf2184ed328c323973c8aa43cd6f

Step one is the best part: get inspired! I went straight out and bought several bridal magazines and set up a new Pinterest board appropriately titled “Wedding Bells.” I invited Cory (Corinne), my best friend and my mom to pin with me. Here is some of my inspiration for our special day.

All of a sudden getting engaged made me fall in love with blush! Don’t you just love the mismatched bridesmaids? Ah and the simple cake mmmhmm.

41007b84a56a1352e41dc9d6578b9e73May or may not have been a little inspired to add a little pink into my dress…but how could you not though?

Just makes me happy! Those bouquets 🙂

Diggin the single blooms and their lack of flashiness! Flowers are pretty, why not show that by putting just one in a vase?

I really love the beautiful shoe-less shoes (I think I just made that up?).

Now to just turn inspiration into a beautiful wedding! Follow my Pinterest board for more inspo and keep coming back for more wedding posts to come.

Spring Nails!

Spring is a time for fresh, bright, new, things. That being said, I always like to keep my nail polish neutral. I feel like spring is all about fashion, bright pastels and whimsical patterns, so I like to have a nude nail so as not to distract. here are some of my favorite spring polishes!

Starting with the black nails ink and going clockwise: Victoria Beckham by Nails Inc in Bamboo White, Essie Imported Bubbly, Butter London Poole, Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy in Checkmate, and Wet N Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel in Air Apparent

Finger Left to Right:

The Victoria Bechham Bamboo white is my favorite go to neutral pint it is a nice creamy opaque light pink. This polish sweetens up any outfit!

Imported Bubbly is the perfect pearly white. I don’t often wear this polish alone but i love to pare it with other polishes, like bamboo white or checkmate, as a statement nail.

Poole is just an all around great color! i don’t usually like to ware bold colors on my nails, but every time i wear this color i always get compliments on it!

Checkmate is the only brown nude i have ever found that I like. This color is the perfect sophisticated nail color. It instantly adds class to any outfit pairing.

On my thumb is Air Apparent which is actually a new love of mine. This color is an almost white blue. Maybe it’s my love of the colors of the year this year but it has been my go to this month for any bright pastel outfit!

Hope you enjoy and try some of these colors! Also let me know what your favorite colors are for spring!

Romantic Spring Break Getaway

So now that I’m apparently a full-fledged adult with bills and a full-time job I find myself missing some of the things I enjoyed as a kid like staying up late past my bedtime when I was supposed to be sleeping (rebellious, I know) and spring break! I think I need to start a petition for adult spring break. I would argue that I need it more now than when I was a little tyke and I doubt I am the only one! I could go on and on about why but let’s just agree that everyone should get a week off in the spring.

Since I can’t just take off on a tropical getaway right now (insert sad face) I’ll stick to day-dreaming. Here are some of my must-haves for my adult version of spring break with a little romance thrown in there for good measure. I picture a beautiful white sand beach with crystal clear blue water and a pina colada in hand. Please tell me if you like my selections and if you go and buy anything!

Easy DIY Succulent Terrarium

I absolutely love terrariums! You can find so many beautiful glass terrariums all over the internet or at almost any store nowadays. One search on Pinterest will send you down a gorgeous terrarium rabbit hole. They pretty much come in any shape and size so anyone can find one to match their style. I prefer one a little more simple and any chance for me to plant succulents, I will take! If you need a little more greenery in your home keep reading to see how to put together an easy succulent terrarium.

I basically stole this glass container from a local thrift store for $6! If you’re not into thrift shopping, you can find one at most home décor stores. Some of my favorites are at World Market, Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. You’ll also need cactus soil, small succulents and rocks.

First I put in the soil. I like it just a little less than halfway full.

45Then I spread the rocks over the soil around the outside, leaving the middle open for the plants.

67Next you’ll plant your succulents (don’t forget to loosen the root balls!).

8I tried to plant the succulents in the middle with a little bit of space in between each one. I didn’t want them to be too close to the outside or right on top of each other.

910Once you’ve planted your succulents you can scatter more rocks over the top and in between the plants.

11Ta Dah!

121If you like more of a cleaner look you can plant the succulents after you put in the soil and after you can put in white rocks. As per usual, I like it a little less perfect. Let me know what you think or if you want more DIYs!

Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette

First off Hi! Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here! Ok lets get into it!

This is the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly palette. Isn’t it adorable! This palette Recently launched on February 28th, it retails for $36 and you can find it at ulta or toofaced.com. As per usual Too Faced Slayed it with their adorable packaging! The palette is made of tin and has a magnetic closer just like all of their new 9 shadow palettes do,and it smells like chocolate like the chocolate bar palettes do. The front sandwich part is raised a little bit higher then the peanut background, and on the back it has a paragraph telling you about the pallet and that it doesn’t contain any peanuts for allergy reasons.

Ok Lets look at the inside!

The Palette was conceived from all of the love that was given to the shade peanut butter in the semi sweet chocolate bar palette, which makes peanut butter the only repeat shadow in this palette, all of the other shades are brand new.

All of the shadows in this palette are warm in tone so if you are not  fan of warm shadows you might want to pass on this one but if you are a fan, or you like to use both warm and cool shades like me then this palette is a great one for you!

Starting from left to right swatched are Spread the Love, Bananas, Extra Creamy, Peanut Butter, peanut Brittle, Jelly, Peanut Butter Cup, Jammin’, Nuts About You.

I love using this palette, all of the colors are extremely pigmented an easy to blend. I also feel like there is a good mixture of every day colors and night time colors in this palette i was able to create lots of simple everyday eye looks and some fun going out eye looks from the shades in here. and what i loved is that its not one of those palettes that i needed to grab other palettes or other colors to finish off a look i had everything i needed right here in this palette. Now i will say that the only shadow that needs some help is the shade Jelly. This did not surprise me at all because too face bright shadows usually aren’t as pigmented as all of their other shadows for whatever reason. Not a huge deal, just use it over a purple liner or cream shadow, or wet your brush when applying this shadow. Both methods work equally as well as the other.

All and all i think this is a fantastic palette! if you are in the market for a new palette and love using warm shades Jump on it Girl! Its a Great palette! And if you do decide to get this palette comment and let me know what you think, what you favorite colors are and fave look! Thanks for reading! Lots Of Love!
